Lawmaker raises alarm as 14 drown on Badagry waterways
A member of the Lagos State Home of Meeting, David Setonji, has cried out over the drowning of 14 individuals.
The incident occurred on Wednesday.
Setonji mentioned the rising use of waterways was attributable to the full collapse of Lagos-Badagry expressway.
Ten individuals died and 4 others lacking after a ship en route Badagry capsized at Kirikiri.
Setonji (Badagry Constituency II) instructed NAN on Saturday that he was devastated by the photographs of the victims.
“Our individuals are on the lookout for different technique of transportation as a result of whole collapse and neglect of the Badagry expressway. We’ve got made repeated requires completion of labor on this crucial entry street to Badagry.
“We’ve got suffered enormously and are nonetheless struggling. Governance needs to be about welfare and security of the folks. I’m pleading and begging authorities to urgently intervene to make the street safer for folks.”
Setonji, the Chairman, Home Committee on House Affairs, urged the federal government to quick monitor street repairs.
He lamented that the street is in shambles “and whole mess in the mean time, that’s the reason our folks resorted to water transport most occasions.”
